SOLAFLO is an Australian advanced manufacturing company commercialising the IZEP ecosystem. Founded by Mark Kirtland, the company brings together decades of pump engineering experience and a clear focus on solar-powered water pumping.

The Founder
Mark Kirtland, Founder and CEO of SOLAFLO
Mark Kirtland is the inventor of the IZEP ecosystem. With 49 years in the Australian water pump industry, Mark identified a fundamental gap in the market: the complete absence of a true off-grid solar solution for residential and commercial water pumping. He then spent more than seven years in intensive research and development to create the IZEP ecosystem from the ground up.
The result is a world-first technology recognised at the highest levels of Australian design and engineering, winning two GOLD, Australian Good Design Awards in 2024 for the IZEP in both Engineering and Product Design and a further Australian Good Design Award in 2025 for the Engineering Design of the SOLMATE (Solar Panel). In 2026, Mark won the City of Charles Sturt Business Award for Innovative and Outstanding Entrepreneur.
Mark's work is protected by three International PCT Patents covering the IZEP pump design, intelligent sensor-less control and fault detection, and the integrated auto-flush skimmer system. The Patent entries span Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Europe and China, supported by registered designs and registered trade marks.
